For many, they have been hurt emotionally or physically by those closest to them. The Belle Bucks Boutique program was created in 2002 to help the girls begin to trust and respect again.
Belle Bucks Boutique is a behavior modification program that gives the girls incentives to treat others with respect. The Summer Campers who exhibit socially accepted behaviors, receive Belle Bucks (poker chips) as a reward. As an example, Belle Bucks are given out to girls who cooperate, are helpful and do as they are asked without argumentation. Girls who receive Belle Bucks are proud of their accomplishment and strive to demonstrate positive behaviors throughout their stay at camp. Each day, between 5 and 6PM, The Summer Campers who received Belle Bucks have the option of going shopping at the Belle Bucks Boutique. There, they shop for donated items such as jewelry, backpacks, Beanie Babies, hats, shoes, dresses and stuffed animals. At the end of their stay at camp, they are able to take their purchases home with them to remind them of the benefits of being courteous to others. The Boutique is run by the older Summer Campers in our Leadership Training program. Thank you in advance for helping us instill a sense of pride among our Summer Campers.
